Visiting Hours
Quiet time and rest are an important part of your recovery. Please note the following guidelines are in place in regard to visitors to Gosford Private Hospital.
Gosford Private Maternity Visiting Hours
Gosford Private Maternity Unit visiting hours differ from the rest of the hospital due to the needs of the mothers and babies.
Current Guidelines
- Antenatal Services: Women may be accompanied by one support person at appointments, no children.
- Birthing Suite: Women may nominate a support person for labour in addition to partner, who will be screened by staff before entering the birthing suite. No other family or support people will be admitted.
- Maternity Ward: 10am-12pm and 3pm-8pm daily.
- Strictly 2 visitors at any time in addition to partner/primary support person.
- Visitors are interchangeable during visiting periods.
- Children are restricted to siblings only - if there is more than 1 sibling visiting, no other visitors at the same time. If there are more than 2 siblings, please discuss with staff.
- Strictly no visitors in the Special Care Nursery.
- Any additional visitors will be requested to leave the ward.
These visiting hours and rest periods were devised following requests from our patients. The demands on mothers, especially first-time mothers in the days following childbirth, are significant while learning to live with broken night's sleep, on top of the overall demands of the baby. This can be exhausting.
We also strive to minimise the risk of infection for our vulnerable mums and babies.
To ensure that our new mothers have as much rest as possible which benefits the needs of all the patients, we ask that you take on the task to ensure that your family and friends are aware of visiting hours and rest periods, before you come to the hospital.
